September 2007 Conference Call
ACM History Committee September 2007 Conference Call

    September 20, 2007, 4:00-4:40pm EDT

    Present:
Bill Aspray, Carol Hutchins, Mike Mahoney, Pat Ryan, Len Shustek, Rick Snodgrass, and David S. Wise

A subset of the History Committee (Bill Aspray, Carol Hutchins, Mike Mahoney, Pat Ryan, Len Shustek, Rick Snodgrass, and David S. Wise) participated in a conference call from 4:00-4:40pm EDT on September 20, 2007 to discuss the responses to an archive request for responses sent out by Pat on July 9, 2007 to fifteen potential archives.

As of the deadline three responses were received, from the following Archiving Institutions (listed in alphabetical order).

Charles Babbage Institute, University of Minnesota, Minneapolis, Minnesota
55455 http://www.cbi.umn.edu/, from Thomas Misa, Director

Hagley Museum and Library, Wilmington, Delaware 19807 www.hagley.org, from
Teresa R. Snyder, Deputy Director, Library Administration

University of Toronto Libraries, Special Collections and Archives units,
      Toronto, Ontario, Canada, M5S 1A5
http://content.library.utoronto.ca/utarms, from Carole Moore, Chief Librarian

All three responses consisted of a letter, sometimes accompanied by appendices and, in the case of the University of Toronto Libraries (hereafter referred to as "Toronto"), attached "University of Toronto Resource Guide for Faculty 2003-2004" (18 pages) and "University of Toronto Libraries Guide" documents (10 pages), and in the case of the Hagley Museum and Library (hereafter referred to as "Hagley"), an attached "Computers, Automation, and Cybernetics at the Hagley Museum and Library" document (101 pages). The attached documents were shared with the Committee in PDF after scanning.

The History Committee considered each of the items in the original request, analyzing each of the responses to that request, briefly summarizing the case from each archiving institution and ordering these institutions (sometimes with a partial order) according to that criterion.

The Committee then combined these analyses into a final total ordering of archiving institutions.
